The invention comprises aluminium tetrabromophthalate. The compound is prepared by treating an aqueous solution of an alkali metal tetrabromophthalate with an aluminium salt.ALSO:Polyethylene is treated with a flame retardant composition containing aluminium tetrabromophthalate and antimmony oxide. The composition used in Example II also contains carbon black, 4,41-thiobis-(6-t-butyl-m-cresol) and triallyl cyanurate. |
