The windsurfer mast mounting is for a mast assembly with an elastic core (3) bridging a ball-and-socket joint between the mast proper (2) and its hollow cylindrical foot (1). A plug (4) screwed into the free end of the cylindrical foot carries a cup washer (5) backed by a bolted-in flat washer (6) and a tight fit in the cylindrical hull socket, or some other form of one-way annular seal. To vary the force required to extract the foot, the depth to which the plug is screwed in is altered.
