Tunnelling and tunnel lining machine - has erectors on tunnelling shield and at rear for handling concrete formwork segments

The tunnelling machine with a conveyor (18) behind the tunnelling shield (10), discharging out material to the rear, also employs a handling system for formwork segments (19) used for applying a concrete layer (14) as the machine advances. This handling system includes a conveyor (23) with an erector (29) at the rear and another erector (31) at the front, above the first conveyor. The rear erector removes the formwork segments after the concrete has set, and the front erector positions them for concrete pouring. The overhead conveyor (23) is a chain conveyor with overhead carriers which position the formwork segments. The rear erector travels on carriages used with the overhead conveyor. The front erector is supported by the tunnelling shield.
