The vaccum cleaner for sucking up dust has a fan unit (4) which is clamped in the housing (1) between two flexible supports (3, 5) which are displaced axially opposite each other. The fan unit (4) rests against one annular shaped support (3), and the other support (5) touches the unit's housing. The fan unit (4) is positioned with its motor axis at right angles to the lengthwise axis of the vacuum cleaner housing (1) on the annular support (3). The other support (5) is positioned between the unit housing, and a tension ring (6) placed on the unit housing. The ring (6) has radially protruding arms (8) which push under corresponding arms (9) joined to the vacuum cleaner housing (1). An adjustable cam (10) is situated between the one arm (8 or 9) of the ring (6) and of the vacuum cleaner housing (1).
