Tools for cutting, stamping and pressing are given a hard facing by welding using a welding rod obtd. from a steel melt of compn. (%) 0-5-3.0C, 0-0,2 N, 0.05-2.0 B(0.1-1.5) B, 0.5-3.0 Si (0.8-2.0) Si, 0.01-1.0 Mn, 0-15.0 Co, 3.0-7.0 Cr, 0-20.0 Mo. 0-20.0 W (together >=5), 0.5-10.0 V, 0-5.0 Ti, 0-2.0 Nb and/or Ta, balance Fe. The welding rod is produced by continuous casting. The melt is passed from the holding vessel to a mould, which is cooled, and the solidified steel is drawn from the mould and formed into a rod. The steel is more economical as it does not contain Ni and is low in Co. The rod produces a hard facing which is free of micropores. For hard facing tools exposed to high wear when used in cold and hot working of metals.
|
