1,073,118. Catalylic gas reactions. UNION RHEINISCHE BRAUNKOHLEN KRAFTSTOFF A.G. Dec. 31, 1965 [Jan. 4, 1965], No. 55419/65. Heading B1F. Reactive gases are introduced over the whole length of a catalyst bed fixed between the perforated walls 2 and 3 extending parallel to the axis of a cylindrical reactor tube 1, the walls 2 and 3 defining free spaces 4 and 6 between themselves and the tube wall such that the gases are introduced into space 4, pass perpendicularly to the tube axis through the catalyst bed, and are removed from space 6. The drop of pressure across the catalyst bed is low, and in a recycle-process the compressing of the gases for recycling is correspondingly low. The bed of catalyst may be divided by further perforated walls parallel to walls 2 and 3 into two or more parallel layers (Fig. 2 not shown). Reactive gas may be also directly introduced between these layers through perforated tubes, or alternatively cooling or heating means may be arranged between the layers. |
