PURPOSE:To deposit a glass plate to a metallic frame at high temperature, thereby manufacturing the flat container having a recess, easily and at low cost. CONSTITUTION:Glass plate 8 is deposited to a metallic frame at a high temperature and airtightness between them is maintained. Here deposition of glass to the metallic frame becomes operation at a high temperature. It is desirable to make similar the coefficients of thermal expansion between them, in veiw of stress generation due to their swelling and shrinking during heating and cooling steps. Particularly viewed from the wetting relation between metal and glass, the combination of materials to be used should be Kovar for the metallic frame and borosilicate-based glass of Fe-Ni for the metallic frame and soda-barium-based glass. Reliability of air-tightness can be further improved, if oxide film is formed beforehand on the metallic frame, and glass is deposited on the metallic frame by way of this oxide film. |
