The device comprises, contained within a casing (103), a least two bolts (5, 105) which may be two large bolts (105) emerging along a substantial part of the door (1) and a transmission mechanism between the bolts and the lock (15). The link between the lock (15) and the control members (44,45; 18,118) is provided by a rocker or by knee-joints and that between the control linkages (18,118) and the bolts (5,105) by knee-joints (54,154). The catch is fastened along the stationary frame of the door consisting of a bent plate (192) in the case of a device with large bolts.
