NEW MATERIAL:An antiboitic, isofortimicin A, and its acid adducts; appearance, white powder; specific rotatory power: [alpha]<25>D +41.6 deg. (c=1.09 in methanol); Infrared absorption spectra (KBr) (cm<-1>): 3600-3100 (strong, OH, NH stretching), 3000-2800 (strong, CH stretching), 1660 (strong, amide I), 1535 (strong, amide I), 1100-1000 (strong, C-O stretching), basic. USE:Antibiotics, effective against gram-positive and -negative bacteria. PREPARATION:A mould producing isofortimicin A as micromonospora olivoasterospora MK-10 is cultivated in a liquid medium at 25-40 deg.C and a pH near 7. Isofortimicin is separated from the filtrate by adsorption and desorption process using cationic exchange resin and purified. |
