PURPOSE:To make the surface potentials of the charger even over the entire length of drum by gradually decreasing the areas at both end parts of the insulation plate provided to the inside surface of the discharge plate opposedly disposed to a discharge wire as it goes toward the end part. CONSTITUTION:An insulation plate 5 such as of resin plate or the like is provided to a surface,e.g., bottom inside surface, of a discharge plate 2 opposed to a discharge wire 1 and both end parts of this insulation plate 5 are made in triangle type of such a shape that the areas thereof are gradually decreased toward the end parts. In the case of this charger, the surface potentials thereof become approximately even over the entire length of the drum as compared to ordinary chargers. Hence, the effective length of the discharge wire may be coincided approxiamtely to the image width and the length of the charger may be decreased. |
