<p>NEW MATERIAL:A dipeptide-type cephem derivative of formula I: [R is phenyl, thiazole group, etc.; R is chain amino acid residue which may have thienyl group bonded to the alpha-carbon atom; R3 is H,-S-Hetero(Hetero is five-membered ring having 2-4 0, S, or N atoms)]. EXAMPLE:7beta-[D-2-(D-2-Aminopropionamide)-2-phenyl acetamide]-3-{[5-methyl- 1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-yl)thio]methyl}-3cephem-4-carboxylic acid. USE:Antibacterials effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (particularly bacilli). PROCESS:A mixed acid anhydride of a dipeptide of formula II: (Y is H or amino group; R5 is phenyl group, thiazole group, etc.) is reacted with a compound of formula III. to form a compound of formula IV, whose protective group is removed with a mixed acid of hydrochloric and acetic acids to give the compound of formula I.</p> |
