The bed may be assembled with a number of others in the form of a plate with breaking lines to separate them. The separate beds are blocks of 5mm thick polystyrene foam of 3x3 cm. There is a round hole in the centre covered with cardboard on top and with a layer of filter paper below supporting a quantity of peat and the seeds. For growth, the cardboard is torn off and the block is placed in a dish filled with water. The seed germinating bed allows the amt. of moisture present to be observed constantly, so that growth can be assisted and the seedling transplanted when necessary.
