The acoustic surface wave device consists of a piezoelectric substrate with a converter on one of the surfaces. The converter consists of parallel electrode elements with overlapping sections. The surface wave is propagated through the converter in accordance with an evaluation function. There are two collector conductors (24, 25) on opposite sides of the converter (12). They have a section running oblique to the direction of propagation. This section is joined to the terminal elements of a group at the points of overlap.
