The pulveriser has a chamber connected to suction to enable operation under reduced pressure. In the chamber, a rotor has at its upper end a horizontal disc with radial channels which project material fed to the disc outwardly towards an impact surface made up of a large number of the blade targets arranged around the chamber on spindles making a small angle with the vertical. The blades rotate between a position in which one face is aligned so that the particles strike it nearly normally, and a position in which the opposite face is aligned so that particles projected when the rotor rotates in the opposite direction strike that face nearly normally. The spindles are pref. linked to permit their simultaneous rotation. The rotor can operate in both directions, enabling wear on the disc channels to be made more even, and by reversing the targets an unworn impact surface can be exposed. In each case an extension of the operating life of the pulveriser, before overhaul is necessary, is achieved. The pulveriser is suitable for materials requiring very high impact speeds, the reduced pressure operation reducing air resistance on the particles during their trajectory.
|
