Fault detector for slide fastener attachment - uses opto-electronic sensor detecting chain detail from articulated arm probe

Faults are detected in attachment of slide fastener on the supporting material by arm which rests on material and which causes warning to be signalled. This enables faulty material to be rejected. Two arms (a) are articulated (e) on a support (f) and have detector stylus (k) applied onto needlework to be checked by a spring (g) acting against an arm (h) of the support. The arm is articulated (h1) on a chassis (i) against which a spring (j) provides closing force to take up variations of material thickness. End of the arm opposite the stylus moves an opto-electronic sensor (m) which detects chain detail. Comparison of signals indicates faulty conditions.
