<p>Pyridyloxy-phenoxy-propionic acid derivs. of formula (I) are new: In (I), R1, R2 independently are H, halo, cyano or 1-4C alkyl; Z is -COR3 or an opt. lower alkyl substd. 2-oxazolinyl radical; R3 is OH, -O-1/nMn+, -OR4, -SR5, -Nr6R7 or -NR8-NR9R10; R4 is alkyl (opt. substd. by halo, cyano, alkoxy, alkylthio, carboxy, alkoxy -carbonyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or 5 or 6 membered heterocyclyl), cycloalkyl opt. halo substd, alkenyl, alkynyl or phenyl (opt. substd. by >=1 halo, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, cyano or nitro gps.); R5 is alkyl (opt. substd. by cycloalkyl, alkoxycarbonyl, halo, cyano, aryl or 5-6 membered heterocyclyl), cycloalkyl, alkenyl or phenyl (opt. substd. by >=1 halo, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, cyano or nitro gps.). R6, R7 independently are H, alkyl (opt. substd. by hydroxy, cyano, alkoxycarbonyl or alkoxy), alkoxy, alkenyl, hydroxy, alkynyl, phenyl, benzyl (the phenyl rings are opt. substd. by >=1 halo, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, cyano or nitro gps) or R6 and R7 together with the N atom form a 5-6 membered heterocyclic opt. contg. an other heteroatom, a N heteroatom may be substd. by alkyl, phenyl or benzyl; R8 is H, alkyl, phenyl or benzyl; R9, R10 are independently H, alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkanoyl, benzoyl or phenyl (opt. substd. by one of more halo, alkyl or alkoxy gps.) or R9 and R10 together with N atom form a 5-6 membered heterocyclic gp., opt. contg. another heteroatom, a N heteroatom may be substd. by an alkyl, phenyl or benzyl gp.; 1/nMn+ = the ionic equivalent of an n-valent alkali metal, alkaline-earth metal, Cu, Fe, alkylammonium or hydroxyalkylammonium quat., ion. The cpds. inhibit the growth of dicotyledons and may be used to reduce the negative growth of soya and similar leguminous plants thus leading to increased crops, inhibit the growth of tobacco suckers, when the main shoot is cut, to improve leaf growth, inhibit the growth of grass, trees, hedges etc.</p> |
