The belt end is connected to the retractor shaft in such a way that the possibility of damage to the shaft or the belt is eliminated when the belt is completely wound-off from the shaft. The shaft (5) has a slot (2) into which the belt end (3) with loop (8) is introduced. The shaft has on its lower peripheral part an enlarged channel with inclined upper surfaces (13) connecting to the vertical surfaces of the slot (2). In downward direction the inclined surfaces (13) of the channel again connect to vertical surface creating an open gap (12) on the channel. When the loop (8) is introduced into the shaft slot a square pin (11) is pushed into the loop. The pin (11) is positioned in such a way that its flat surfaces (14) rest against the inclined surfaces (13) of the channel.
