The machine has a cylindrical rotor (6) mounted eccentrically within a cylindrical casing (4). An internal radial vane (7) is fixed to a point on the casing and slides in a radial slot (8) in the rotor. The rotor touches the casing to form a seal at a point (24) opposite the vane. Gas enters and leaves through ports (22, 23) in the rotor opening on either side of the vane. Flow is reversed between them by a rotary valve on the shaft (5). The construction makes the rotor and casing revolve together. Two identical units are connected by a chain (2) to a common drive shaft (3).
