Tractor driven conical helix for splitting wood - has mitre gear and suspension on tractor hoist providing longitudinal position adjustment

The spiral cone acts as a rotary wedge for the wood-splitter, with a geared drive from a tractor trunnion shaft. The transmission gear comprises a mitre gear (8) with downward-protruding secondary drive trunnions (10, 10a) for the spiral cone (13, 13a). For attachment to the tractor there is a three-point suspension unit, attachable to a hoisting unit (1) on the tractor so that vertical adjustment of this effects vertical parallel movement of the gear. This obviates the need to drive the tractor backwards and forwards, and provides an abutment to prevent the wood from being turned with the cone.
