A plant for the direct utilisation of solar energy as a source of heat for industrial processes, has a concentrating system, into which the energy is centralised irrespective of the geographical terrain, and the size of the industrial buildings or other structure. The radiant energy is gathered by a number of concentrating collectors and projected to a central reflector above them, at their focal points. The energy is transmitted from there downwards through a shaft into a collecting chamber or radiation collector. The electromagnetic radiant energy is then radiated as a light or heat source on to the medium absorbing energy or to elements or containers for energy conversion or dispersion.
