1318573 Electroless plating of earth formations SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 8 July 1970 [10 July 1969] 33163/70 Heading C7F [Also in Division E1] An earth formation, e.g. surrounding a well bore, is consolidated by depositing metal from a plating solution containing an organic sulphimide. The metal may be Fe, Ni, Co or Cu, e.g. nickel or cobalt chloride or sulphate may be used as the metal salts and the solvent may be water or alcohol. The reducing agent may be hypophosphorous acid, sodium hypophosphite or an alkaline solution of a molybdate, and as formate or a hydroxy carboxylate. Activating solutions may comprise stannous and palladium solutions e.g. chlorides, bromides, nitrates and sulphates, and hydrazine. |
