The system produces an electrode comb for a mosaic-type printing machine. The electrodes of the comb are subjected to a voltage which burns off the metal coating of a data support moved below the printing head. To produce a comb with m electrodes (4), m x n pin-type electrodes are cast in synthetic resin in a common plane with their free ends aligned, after which each nth electrode is removed. In place of each nth electrode a component of insulating material can be provided.
