Scaffolding includes two frames (1) releasably mounted on respective spaced supports (4) on a wall (2) to support a platform (20) having downwardly open channels (26) at each end for locating it on support members (14) of the frames. Adjustable pressure pads (16) on lower parts of the frames abut the wall. A rear guard rail 30 is releasably engageable with the end guard rails 13. The two upper frame members (13) each carry an arm (37) carrying four pulleys and pivotally intermediate its ends about an axis perpendicular to the wall. A rope (45, 45a) is passed over each arm for hoisting a respective end of the platform (20) into its position of use, the arm pivoting into a horizontal position to allow the end of the platform to be raised past the respective support 14 and pivoting into an upright position when tension in the rope is released to allow the end of the platform to swing towards the frame to be lowered onto its support member (14). <IMAGE> |
