<p>PURPOSE:To achieve a wide range of variable resistance value and improve the quality by arranging two or more resistors connected in parallel on the same substrate to form a chip resistor. CONSTITUTION:If all of two or more resistors, for example, three resistors 3a connected in parallel have equal resistance value R, the initial resistance value will be R/3. When these resistors are cut completely and successively in the X direction, resistance values R/2, R will be obtained. Further, when the form of externally connecting electrode is adopted, if part of the externally connecting electrode 4a is cut completely in the direction of (a) and part of the externally connecting electrode 4b is cut completely in the direction of (b), a resistance value 3R can be obtained. Thus, the resistance value can be varied stepwise from R/3 to 3R. If smaller steps are desired in the variable resistance range, the number of resistors connected in parallel may be increased. In general, if each resistor has equal resistance value R and the number of the resistors connected in parallel is (n), resistance values from R/n to nR can be obtained stepwise.</p> |
