Coaxial connectors comprise expanded heatrecoverable insulating sleeves and solder inserts, so that application of heat shrinks the sleeves and melts the solder to effect soldered connections between the connector contacts and conductors of cables, which may be coaxial or twin flex. As shown, Fig. 1, a first heatrecoverable sleeve 28 is partially shrunk on to the inner resilient socket contact 20 of a coaxial connector, mandrels (not shown) being inserted into the ends of sleeve 28 to produce, at one end of the sleeve, a slightly flared portion 31 for receiving the inner insulation 35 of a coaxial cable 33, and, at the other end, an entry aperture 29 for contact 20 and an annular portion 30 for locating contact 20 concentrically in the outer plug contact 10 of the connector. The inner end of contact 20 comprises a tapered slot 23 defined by two tines (only one 24 being shown) to receive the inner conductor 34 of cable 33. A solder ring 27 is positioned between slot 23 and sleeve 28 in register with an aperture 12 in outer contact 10. A second heat-recoverable sleeve 16 is partially shrunk around the inner end of outer contact 10, and extends beyond said end to a mandrel-formed flared portion 19. A second solder ring 18 is located between sleeve 16 and contact 10 in register with a second aperture 13 in the latter and with the turnedback outer braid 36 of cable 33. Application of heat, as by infra-red radiation or hot air, shrinks sleeves 16, 28 and melts solder rings 18, 27 to solder braid 36 to outer contact 10 and inner conductor 34 to inner contact 20, and to grip cable 33 in a strain-relieving manner. A resilient ring 15 having struck out tongues is located on outer contact 10 to enable the connector to be retained in a connector block (not shown). Fig. 5 (not shown) depicts a basically similar arrangement having an outer resilient socket contact (40) and an inner rigid plug contact (46). In a modification, Fig. 11, for use with twin-flex cable, the earthing flex 64 passes through a third heat-recoverable sleeve 58 located between outer contact 56 and second sleeve 62, the conductive core 67 being soldered to contact 56 by a solder ring 59. Sleeve 58 may be omitted.</p>
