A tractor-mower combination comprises a tractor and a mower assembly including a reciprocable sickle assembly which is adapted to be attached to one side of the tractor. The tractor has front and rear mounting means on said one side, and the mower assembly has first and second fastening means for connection respectively to the front and rear mounting means. Fulcruming means on the tractor is positioned between the front and rear mounting means for fulcruming the mower assembly when one fastening means on the mower assembly has been secured to the respective one mounting means on the tractor, so that by adjustment of the connection between said one mounting means and one fastening means, the mower assembly may be canted about the fulcruming means for aligning the other fastening means with the other mounting means. As illustrated the mower has a forwardly extending arm 32 and a plate 43 which are connected respectively by bolts to a cam plate 18 and a portion (45) (Fig. 1, not shown) on the tractor the connecting means being such as to facilitate assembly and disassembly. During assembly the tractor and mower which is supported on stand 175 are first connected by a single bolt 26 at the end of arm 32, then forward movement of the tractor causes the plate 43 to engage the portion (45). A further bolt is passed through a lug 36 on the arm and the cam plate, and the holes of the portion (45) and plate 43 are brought into alignment by tightening or loosening the nut of bolt 26, the plate 43 being rendered vertical by adjustment of a nut (115) or rod (106) (Fig. 14, not shown). A U-shaped support 57, in the outer end (62) (Fig. 2, not shown) of which a housing 63 of the cutter bar drive is rotatably journalled, is pivotably mounted in members 46, (47) (Fig. 1, not shown). The member 46 is movable in a slot 60 thus a vary height of the arm 32 above the ground when the mower is supported on stand 175, or to vary the altitude of the cutter bar when the mower is mounted on the tractor and the stand is raised to broken line position. Raising the cutter bar and support is effected by a hydraulic ram 75 acting via linkage 82, 83, 85, rock shaft 86, lever 125, and chain 122. The rod (106) having adjustment nuts (115), and a collar (116) limits movement of the support relative to the plate 43. The outer end of the support is supported by a tension spring 98. The cutter bar is driven from the tractor p.t.o. shaft. |
