<p>A target supply circuit for X-ray apparatus is used where variability of wavelength is required. The circuit is esp. suitable for portable equipment where weight must be minimised. The X-ray tube (XT) is fed from a transformer (T1) whose primary winding (P) forms part of a resonant circuit together with a parallel capacitor (C) and a diode and resistor in parallel in the series loop. The resonant circuit is driven from a transistor switch (TR1) controlled at its base from a variable pulse generator, synchronised with the a.c. supply providing the circuit power via a full wave bridge rectifier.</p> |
