Telephone relay enclosures assembled from thermo-formed ABS sheet - for protection in damp conditions

Enclosures for holding electronic equipment are made from two thermoformed shells assembled with a joint maintained in compression by mechanical clamps. Used esp. (claimed) for holding telephone switchgear, relays to protect them from dust, heat, oil, vibration, etc., esp. under damp conditions. PreF. shells are thermoformed from ABS sheet (approx. 6 mm. thick) using moulds which may be fitted with inserts to allow complementary shell forms to be molded which allow the enclosures to be keyed together when stacked. Opt. the shells are fitted with external rubber pads on at least one end and with internal supports or spacers of expanded polyethylene. Typical enclosures are 2.2 x 0.92 x 0.65 m., for holding a relay assembly weighing approx. 180kg.
