Nail-polishing compsn. contains >=1 wax, (I), Me-9,10-dihydroxystearate, (II), and >=1 abrasive, (III) esp. "Tripoli" (RTM) (diatomite), kieselguhr and/or SnO2. The compsn. can be used as a compacted powder body, a chalk or stick, without soiling clothes, etc. (II) softens, protects and improves nail gloss. The compsns. pref. contain, by wt. 5-20 % wax, 30-60 % (II) and 15-65 % (III), esp. 15-35 % "Tripoli" (RTM) and/or kieselguhr, or 5-50% SnO2. The waxes may be carnauba and/or rice bran wax. The compsns. may also contain a dispersed, powdery filler, esp. 5-35% CaCO3 and/or kaolin; and a pigment, esp. an inorganic pigment, e.g. Fe oxide.
