The composite fabric web consists of an upper fabric and of a lower fabric which are connected to one another at points selected according to the particular pattern, or there is a change of the upper fabric relative to the lower fabric, and vice versa, according to the particular pattern, cavities being present between the connection points. Between an upper fabric, formed from an upper warp (a) and an upper weft (b), and a lower fabric, composed of a lower warp (c) and a lower weft (d), is inserted at least one filling yarn (e), as a weft and/or warp yarn, which takes the form of a texture yarn consisting of synthetic material with latent crimping or contains shrinkable fibres or threads and the volume of which can be increased by heat treatment in such a way that it can fill the cavities between the connection points. The composite fabric web, which can be produced on a multi-shuttle weaving machine with a dobby, is especially suitable for sports clothing. <IMAGE>
