The exchange has a connection store. The content of this store represents all existing connections, and there is a control device which derives from the signals coming from the peripheral devices connection information to be stored, or changes or erases connection information. When signals from peripheral devices are present, corresponding information stored in the control unit programmable store is called out and compared with the connection store whole content. When corresponding information is found, a new switching information stored in a further store is applied to and stored in the connection store.
