The document file has a rectangular plate (2) of metal or plastic with holes (5) for rivets to attach the plate to the file cover. Two flexible tags (3) with fold lines (4) project from the ends of the plate. The tags are bent upwards and pass through holes in the documents being filed. A strip (6) attached to the plate by flexible wire or cord (7) is folded over the documents so that the tags pass through the slots (8). The ends of the tags have serrated surfaces which engage serrations (11) formed in small bridged projecting from the surface of the strip.
