Prostaglandins of the E series were stabilized in soln. by adding a saturated aliphatic ter-alkanol with 4-10 C atoms. For example, Prostaglandins E2 (I; R = Me, Ph) was mixed with ter-butanol and freon (aerosol propellant) at a ratio of 1:60:8500 and stored in sealed ampules at 50≦̸C for 2 weeks. The preparation provided 83% protection of guinea pigs against bronchospasm induced by inhalation of histamine.
