Ignition lock with safety interlock - operated with safety catch on ring shape at end of barrel

The vehicle ignition lock is fitted with a barrel which moves axially to operate the steering lock. A safety catch (11) secures the barrel until the key is fully withdrawn. The safety catch engages a ring shape (20) at the end face of the barrel so that the barrel is secured near its axis and near the keyway. The system ensures that the steering column lock is not engaged when the ignition is switched on.
