Thermoplastic fabric and similar materials are bonded together by welding, using equipment with two jaws, one fixed and the other moving vertically, and a welding wire between them. Each jaw has a suitable covering in elastic material for gripping the fabrics. The equipment used can be mounted on a carriage to move from one fabric machine to another. One fixed jaw contains an air cylinder whose piston moves the other jaw to and from it. Each jaw has e.g. silicone rubber strips to grip the fabrics. Action is rapid, machine is simple, good bonds are obtd. and there is no damage to fabrics. |
