The spring core comprises steel wire coils and is divided on the dividing edge running across the longitudinal direction into at least two spring core parts. The springs (11, 12) on this dividing edge are biased with their end windings (13, 14, 15, 16) inclined towards each other in and around the peripheral sections which face the other spring core on the opposite dividing edge. The springs (11, 12) are connected with articulated movement to the likewise inclined braced end windings of the springs belonging to the opposite spring core part. The padding (8, 9) which rests on the ends of the end windings is evenly supported with no protrusions.
