New anilino-ethyl contamate derivs. are of formula (I) In (I) R is 1-4C alkyl, R1 is H, CH3 or C2H5; and R" is CH3, C2H5, cyclohexyl or phenyl. (I) are useful as reducing components for use in starter systems for peroxide-hardened dental filling compositions. The gelling time for the compositions is within the range required in dental practice, and the tendency to discolouration of the fillings is minimal.
