The cathode 7 is followed by a control electrode 2 and a sequence of flat apertured, diaphragms forming an accelerating electrode 3, a first anode 4, a focusing electrode 5, and a second anode 6. The first anode 4 is formed by spaced diaphragms 12 and 13 electrically connected to one another and to the second anode 6. The diameters of the apertures of the electrodes 4, 5, and 6 are equal to one another, and the spacing between adjacent ones of the diaphragms forming them ranges from 0.55 to 0.8 of this diameter.
