The drill screw has a head part with a threaded shank and a drill part with a slightly rounded point. The drill part has at least one recess forming a cutting edge. For insertion in plastics the point (8) recess (10) extends into the shank and is formed by a limiting surface. This has a first section running from the drill point to the shank with a clearance (18) to the axis (20) of the screw. A second rounded section forms a cutting surface (22) inclined to the shank.
