Lining for induction coil used to heat or melt metals - includes ceramic tubes contg. coils of metal wire as reinforcement

The cooled coil contains >=1 prefabricated tube made of an insulating ceramic and contg. heat resistant inserts consisting of coils of wire located at a distance from each other. The wall thickness of each tube is pref. 8-20 mm; and when >=1 tube is used, they are pref. joined end to end via tongue and groove joints. The coiled wire inserts are pref. connected to an alarm system which detects the penetration of molten metal or other foreign matter, e.g. scale, into th etubes. A thermally insulating layer of refractory ceramic fibres is pref. used between the tubes and the induction coil. The coiled wire inserts provide mechanical reinforcement, so thin walled tubes can be used.
