<p>The invention relates to a process for the preparation of aromatic carbonates of formula where R is a substituent chosen among the alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, aryloxy, NO2 groups or hydrogen, consisting of contacting compounds of the type where R has the above meanings and R1 is a non tertiary alkyl group with a catalyst system selected from titanium tetraphenate or titanium tetramethylate, the reaction being carried out in liquid phase with or without solvents at temperatures between 25 and 350.degree.C and pressures between 0.1 and 100 absolute atmospheres.</p> |
