A fluid to pasty washing and cleansing agent concentrate comprising (A) at least one X-ray amorphous water-insoluble, synthetically-produced, finely-dispersed solid silicate compound containing at least some combined water and having a calcium binding of 50 to 200 mg CaO/gm of anhydrous active substance and the formula on the anhydrous basis M2/nO)X where M is a cation of the valence n, exchangeable with calcium, x is a number of from 0.7 to 1.5, Me is a member selected from the group consisting of aluminum and boron, and y is a number from 0.8 to 6, as a water-softening agent, and (B) an aqueous solution of a surface active component selected from the group consisting of anionic surface-active compounds, nonionic surfaceactive compounds, cationic surface-active compound, amphoteric surface active compounds and mixtures thereof, with the proviso that if a cationic surface-active agent is present, at least one anionic or amphoteric surface-active compound is also present. - A
