Sun-screening compounds, useful to protect the skin and hair against deleterious effects upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation, of the formula: where R' is or R" is or R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are independently lower alkyl and Y is a C2-C6 alkylene. Sun-screening compositions containing such compounds and a cosmetically acceptable diluent or carrier, and methods of using such compositions, are also disclosed.
