A multi-vaned stator is provided to straighten the fluid flow, the vanes 19 defining passages each of which comprises a first portion which extends rectilinearly and divergently from an inlet end 20 of the stator and merges tangentially with an arcuate portion which terminates in, and is substantially normal to, the outlet end 21 of the stator. While the first portion has a straight axis, its walls may diverge in a curved manner. The outlet end need not be parallel to the inlet end. <IMAGE> |
