<p>The drive for a tape recorder uses a mixture of belt drives and toothed gearwheels. The capstan(2) is driven from the motor(3) by a belt drive(4). At the top of its spindle is a small toothed pinion (22) and below this another belt pulley(20). The tape reel discharge and take up reels are driven by toothed wheels(14, 19). A swinging lever(7) swings about the axis(8) of the take up reel carries two coaxial toothed wheels(9, 11) with a friction wheel(12) between. A second lever(16) swings about the capstan axis(2) and carries the other belt pulley(18) and a toothed wheel(17). The first lever(7) meshes either the pinion(22) with one of the gearwheels or with the gearwheel(17) on the second lever(16). This lever engages or disengages its gearwheel(19) on the tape reel discharge spindle.</p> |
