<p>A system for paving flat roofs comprises tiles laid on bearing elements of each tile, at each corner, there is a recess which marries with the bearer so that, when the tiles are laid together, one bearer fits into the four corner recesses of adjacent tiles. Each tile is supported by 1/4 of a bearer at each corner. The edges of the tiles between corners are relieved to provide drainage channels for surface water. The bearer elements may be square or round and the tile corner recesses will be correspondingly square or 1/4 circular. The bearer elements pref. comprise two layers of differing elasticity, the first of a foamed elastomer of the EPDM rubber type, and the second of a plate of elastomer particles bound together with a thermoplastic material. The thickness ratio of the two layers is pref. 1:3. The paving system is simple and economic whilst minimising the risk of movement of paving tiles or damage to the waterproof layer.</p> |
