Structuring endless yarn to give natural fibre appearance - by conveying it over a roughened surface during the twining stage

Synthetic e.g. nylon or polyester endless yarn is textured to give it the appearance and handle of natural fibre. This is achieved by conveying it over a roughening surface and at the same time twisting it about its axis. Suitable equipment comprises a roller with roughening surface, specifically a roller covered with emery cloth. In a variant, instead of a roller, a stationary cylinder is used. The prod. resembles natural staple fibre.
