[Also in Division B5] A seal comprises an outer metal casing 12 and laminated annular sealing element 16 secured within the casing by a member 14. The sealing element consists of an annulus 18 of an inert synthetic resinous material having a low coefficient of friction, e.g. P.T.F.E. and an annulus 20 of an elastomeric material such as rubber. The inner edges of the annuli are bent over as in Fig. 5 by a hot coining operation and give an increased seal between the annuli and the member to be sealed. |
