<p>The sewing thread for high tenacity stitching, such as for the ends of safety belts, has an optical and/or electric control substance inserted along the whole length of the thread. A fluorescent substance is pref., applied either to the outer surface of the thread, or to the strands making up the thread. Or the sewing thread can be drawn from an electrical conductor. The fluorescent substance is such that at a given light wave length it is energised to max. effect, while the sew material has a high degree of absorption at this wave length. The system allows stitching faults to be detected easily, partic. when working with high speed sewing machines.</p> |
