Packaging wrapping prodn. machine - reduces glued area combined thickness to that of remaining sheet material

The machine continuously produces packing wrappings from sheets of flat material travelling along a track and with glue lugs extending in the travel direction. A folding station is followed by one applying glue to the lugs. Grinders preceding the gluing station reduce the thickness of the lugs (9") and the portions of the sheets against which they fit (10") in the assembled state, so that together they form a layer of the same thickness as the rest of the sheet material. Where reduction is by a rotary tool, the axis of rotation of the tool can be parallel in the transverse direction to the plane of the sheet material.
